THIS WEEKEND

THREE Opportunities for you to have some fun with us this weekend:

1) SATURDAY Evening from 6-10pm, the Valentine's Sock Hop & Dinner. This even is to raise money for the Belize Mission Team. Cost is $15/person, $20/couple, $30/family and includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and drink. Trophies awarded for Best Dancer, Best Dressed and Longest Hula Hooper! 50's/60's Theme & Music. Grab your guy/girl, bring your family and let's dance!!! I'm looking forward to seeing you there!

2) SUNDAY AFTERNOON...we will have a celebration after church to say goodbye to Chuck and Sandra Moore. A job transfer is moving them out of state. Chuck and Sandy have been extremely valuable members of PCC from our earliest days. You might know Sandy as the killer singer and worship leader who frequents the Powhatan Campus stage. We will miss both of them and will enjoy a few minutes to tell them so Sunday right after the second service.

3) SUNDAY EVENING...Teenagers enjoy one of the coolest student events ever: the McFormal! I bought my tacky outfit today and I can't WAIT to wear it Sunday night! A McFormal is a semi-formal occassion that combines Homecoming with McDonalds. So, any weird, tacky, ugly, or outdated semi-formal to formal clothing will be appropriate attire for the evening. We'll snack on some McDonald's food. We'll dance to appropriate music. We'll crown a king and queen. (I hope I'm eligible, because I'm SURE to win if I am!).

3 Events You Don't Want to Miss

• Lots of folks are asking lots of great questions about where PCC is headed. Whether you are a committed member of our church or someone who is still checking us out, I would strongly encourage you to come to the Powhatan Campus on Sunday, September 26, at 6pm. We'll have a great time of worship, share communion together, and we'll hear about where God is leading PCC. I'll also do some question and answer time. It will be a GREAT evening that you don't want to miss!

• This Coming Sunday (Sept 19), we will have our September Baptism. 4pm at the James River at Cartersville. If you would like to be baptized, it's not too late to get on the list. Please call the church office at 598-1174 or contact me or Sammy Frame at sammy@pccwired.net. This is an event that the entire church is encouraged to attend, and there is a sizable group that is going to be baptized. Come celebrate with us!

• Finally, there are still 2 spots available for the Marriage Retreat. You can find more info by clicking HERE. But we need a commitment and a deposit asap if you want to go.

Something I learned last week

I learned something that was a complete surprise that happened last weekend. The people who manage Westchester Commons organized a community Easter Egg Hunt. The Westchester Campus team asked the management group if we could put up a table and promote PCC and they agreed. We had a little game for the little kids and gave away bags of popcorn with our logo, pens and brochures. We had lots of very good conversations with many people who seemed genuinely interested in our church.

There were two surprises for me:

1) The number of people. There were probably 300 kids and at least as many adults. I just never would have guessed that many people would have come, especially on such a cold morning. It was a lot of people.

2) The biggest surprise came from Dennis Green’s informal survey. Everyone he talked to (and there were many), he would ask how and when they learned about the event. Most heard about it through the Powhatan Today. People really read the PT! But overwhelmingly, they said they heard about it either the day before or the day of! The event had been advertised for weeks. But most folks seemed to base their plans on a much shorter range schedule than I would have imagined. That’s a total shock to me.

I love learning about how our culture works, how people think, and what would get people to want to come to church!

Special Father's Day Event

We know that men (and a few women!) have unique relationships with their motorized vehicles. Next week - Sunday, June 15 - we want to feel the love and spread the joy!

If you have a car or bike that you're particularly proud of, bring it to church at PCC Sunday morning! We'll have the back bus loop blocked off for the first ever PCC Car and Bike Show! Clean it up and bring it up for everybody to admire and enjoy!

All are welcome, so spread the word. We hope that this will be a special way to honor dads on Father's Day, and give everybody a chance to enjoy some muscle...
