It was awesome. The Words spoken were genuine by all the Pastors. Powhatan will not be the same! Thank you for a special evening. I would like to see this as an annual event for Powhatan!

What a powerful evening. All those pastors -- all those believers. Wow.

I have to agree with the first post. One time was a monumental event. Some type of periodic gathering in that vein would make it a lifestyle, and I think that would just make for some over the top holiness and unity in Powhatan.

It was great! I wish we could have televised it around the world! Much love and forgiveness!

WOW!! A glimpse of what heaven will be as we all worship together one day. And being a part of the choir was so great, hearing all those voices and the energy and worship it all inspired. I agree it should happen more often..perhaps once a quarter even. It would be a great way to continue to unite the community!

As Barry & I were driving home, we stated that tonight was just a LITTLE BIT of heaven,~ for every tribe, every nation, every tongue will confess the name of Christ. In heaven we will all worship together. "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.." I think this happend in Powhatan tonight!
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could do this again, maybe this could be the beginning of an annual or semi-annual event!
The worship was wonderful!
The pastors all spoke from their hearts, and you could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit!
The prayers were beautiful and sincere, - my personal hope would be that we would also have more times together of praying with others in our community, all of our voices going to God's throne of grace at the same time, I'm thinking the ground of Powhatan would be shaking with the power of God unleashed!
I'm thinking I am going to be awake all night with the excitement of what took place.
Praise God! All who have breath praise the Lord!

I don't know if many people saw her, but Tahliek's Mother came. She was so filled with emotion that she did not stay but for a couple of minutes, but his family and friends did. I'm glad that they got to see that not everyone in the community, no matter their race, agreed with the verdict. I personally have felt the division in races more over the last few years - more as I'm getting older - and it shouldn't be like that. We should be coming out of it, not sinking futher in. Tonight was great and it should be done more often.

Words cannot describe the joy and thankfulness I felt to be part of such a gathering. It truly is a reflection of the great gathering we'll one day enjoy.

I agree, we need to keep doing this. More than once a year. As someone said above, we need to make this our lifestyle.

I could say more but I'm still processing it all! Thank you to the pastors and too all the members of the churches who came to worship together so powerfully.

Not so long ago people fought for the very freedom that we rejoiced in tonight. I stood next to, worshiped with, and held hands with those of a different race, and with those from multiple church backgrounds. God’s hand was over all of us as we celebrated the very life that He gave us. I can’t imagine a better night. We wept for lives lost, we praised a God who gives, who takes away, and who through it all always keeps His promise. Tonight was monumental for me. My heart is saturated with His love, His grace, and His peace. It was exactly what not only I needed but what our county needed. I was a witness to exactly what God intended community to be. I don’t think anyone walked away tonight unchanged. That my friends is Jesus at work. Wow. I am filled with love and awe. To Jesus I say, “Here I am…send me.” We can and do make a difference when He is at work within us. “No hand formed against me shall prosper….”

It was such a powerful, uplifting, reassuring service letting us know that God is truly in control. He has allowed the previous events to happen in order to build us up. I suggest doing this ever 3 or 6 months.

I was so looking forward to the service and had to explain why we were going to the service to my children several times and expressed how important it was to go. (During and after the service, they understood). What touched me was that it was a gathering of Believers in Christ coming together for Christ in one mind and spirit and to be a witness for Christ to our community. I was blessed by the presence of the The Holy Spirit, who was alive and well. I would like to see our community of churches do this on a regular basis...that would be awesome. My teenagers were moved by the spirit as well. My daughter said she had uncontrollable tears thru out the service. My son was sitting there with raised hands praising the Lord. What a blessing!!! I thank all the pastors who gave of their time and the people who sang in the choir and the people behind the scenes - you were a Blessing.

What an honor to be present and feel the goodness of a community coming together as one to affirm God's all-powerful love and presence.

So many powerful images in mind from last night. One of the ministers had the community say united with one voice, 'devil, Powhatan County is OFF LIMITS!' Say it again, 'devil, Powhatan County is OFF LIMITS!'

Let's keep saying that today and everyday, in our daily lives, in everything we do and say: devil, my life is off limits! God is in control!

What happened last summer was from the devil. How we move forward from here is from GOD.

May we embrace Him and rejoice in His goodness this day and everyday. Remember with God on our side, no one can stand against us.

Last night proved that. Praise Him for the pastors who spoke His word and for everyone who worked so hard to make last night possible.

Good things are to come. Thanks be to GOD!

Privilege does not begin to define how I feel to have been part of something that clearly impacted our county and most likely will change it forever. What a gift. The presence of God was so real. So amazing. There truly are no words to capture what last night was like.
For me personally, just the rehearsal was enough to fill me so full I felt as if I must burst. As we were practicing the words to the songs and I looked from face to face it was so clear...not only did it not matter if you were black or white...it did not matter if you were fat or thin...tall or short...educated or experience laden...we all just wanted to worship Jesus and have others clearly SEE the peace He brings if we let Him. To me..THAT was my most powerful moment. Just seeing the large diversity in so many ways...all saying.. "I love you and I need you to survive." That was my moment. That and being able to sing with Eli... clearly the spirit of God lives within this little boy as he looked at me and said, "Do you believe in God?" and when I shook my head yes, he said, "Well, then you know God is love!" If we could all just see it this simply...

Awesome service last night. Special thanks to Brian Hughes and the amazing PCC team for coordinating such a great night. And to all the Pastors who stood in front of God and everybody else proclaiming His word. I hope the follow up service is held at the football stadium with standing room only!
May God bless Powhatan County.

I grew up in Powhatan. I love Powhatan. I am so proud of Powhatan for Sunday night's service.
Sunday night, I got to worship with people that I've known since I was a little girl. We travelled together. We ate together. We watched lots and lots of ball games together. Yet, we had never worshipped together, because of our race.
Tears came to my eyes as I watched pastors from different backgrounds and churches shake the hands of our teenagers, as I watched our teenagers worship through song and music with that amazing and diverse choir, and as I watched the faces of our students as they listened to the different pastors.
I hope we continue to move forward on this issue instead of just celebrating one great evening in the past!
